| The majority of aquatic plants grow in shallow water and under a intense light radiation that reaches its highest value (peak) during midday. Illumination generated by metal halide lamp (HQI in particular) is much more intense than that produced by standard fluorescent tubes and provides exceptional ligh output for growing most aquatic plant- from the very highest light demanding species, to those preferring lower light conditions. The Grand Solar I adds 2- 36 watt power compact fluorescents to provide greater light coverage on wider aquariums. The addition of power compact fluorescents provides the option for a longer potential photoperiod as well because they can be used independently from the much more intense HQI. |
