This decorative stone type replicates the look and feel of a soft layout and lends itself well to creating rolling hills or mountain type scapes. Each individual stone is a jet black in color and smaller than other types of stone, which lend itself well to stacking, as Takashi Amano has used them extensively in his most latest layouts.

In layouts utilizing driftwood, perhaps one of the strongest traits of the Yamaya Stone is as accent pieces to the composition, the dark color providing a pleasant contrast against the typical colors of driftwood and the bright greens of plants.
